
Government sources of information
There are several very useful sources of information on robotaxis from government agencies:
San Francisco City
- August 7th, 2023 – SF Fire Department presentation to CPUC on Safety Issues Regarding Driverless AV Interactions with First Responders
 - August 22nd, 2023 – SF Fire Department list of 55 incidents where had problems with robotaxis.
 - SF Police Department Incident Report Request . Note: police will only provide incidence reports for injury cases to the involved parties. And they will only provide reports for cases that have “closed”.
 - Request public record of 911 call. Note: will only provide info for “closed” incidents.
 - Non-police (I.e. Fire Department) Public Records Request
 
DMV and CPUC
- California DMV lookup of Autonomous Vehicle Collision Reports that were actually reported to DMV.
 - Search CPUC documents. In particular for Cruise you can search rulings for “R1212011”.
 - December 1st, 2023 – Judge’s ruling that Cruise had mislead CPUC. Contains specific information on how Cruise was misleading.
 - October 24th, 2023 – DMV suspension of Cruise service because Cruise did not provide full information on October 2nd incident.
 
NHTSA
- NHTSA page for searching for safety recalls or investigations by date. For example, if one searches around October 16, 2023 one will find NHTSA Action Number: PE23018 on Cruise’s potential danger to pedestrians, with associated documents.
 - November 27th 2023 – Letter from NHTSA to Cruise demanding more information from Cruise by January 8th 2024. A separate memo from December 13th extended deadline to February 24th 2024. Note: as of Jan 4th Cruise has not replied.
 - October 27th 2023 – Cruise letter to NHTSA stating that its replies to NHTSA are confidential and not subject to FOIA.
 - October 2nd 2023 – NHTSA Incident Report for when pedestrian was dragged by Cruise vehicle.
