Waymo likely making 100,000 empty trips per week now!

Waymo is always happy to spread news that makes them look good. So they are bragging about doing 100,000 paid trips in a single week.

But they sure seem to hide the negative externalities. Given that they previously had been putting in same number of empty miles as miles with passengers, and given that they always drive empty when they go to pick up passengers, half of their trips are empty. Yes, “zero-occupancy vehicles”. Plus we need to keep in mind that their vehicles are significantly more pollution than a Toyota Prius.

And let’s not forget that they are losing money on every passenger trip. So the more trips, the more money they lose.

Somehow this isn’t all that impressive.
